How to Apply
First Time in College
If you are a high school graduate or GED holder who has not earned credit at a community college, college or university, you can apply as an incoming freshman.
- Complete an undergraduate application online or download a pdf version.
- Submit the application and attach the non-refundable $30 application fee (check or money order payable to Wayne State University). Please include your Social Security number. We do not accept cash.
- Contact your high school to have your transcript sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Wayne State University, PO Box 02759, Detroit, MI 48202
- Music and dance majors require auditions. See the individual department site for further information.
- Please allow 4 to 6 weeks to process your application.
Transferring to WSU
If you have earned credits from another college or university, you may be able to transfer those credits to Wayne State. Check our Transfer Credit Web site to find out more information or come visit our Welcome Center during our Transfer Thursdays and talk with us.
If you have earned less than 12 transferable credit hours at the college or university level, you will apply as an incoming freshman.
To apply, follow the instructions below.
- Complete an online application or download a pdf version.
- Attach the non-refundable $30 application fee (check or money order payable to Wayne State University). Please include your Social Security number. Cash is not accepted.
- Send an official transcript. An official transcript is one that is sent directly from the sending college to Wayne State and is not handled by the student. It carries the seal and signature of the sending college. Send official transcripts to: Undergraduate Admissions, PO Box 02759, Detroit MI 48202-0759.
- Music and dance majors require auditions. See each department's site for further information.
